Lichfield's Got Talent 2015

This year Perfect Weddings Abroad are proud sponsors of Lichfield's Got Talent.

What is it all about? Well Lichfield’s Got Talent is an annual charity event organised by volunteers to find the best local talent and raise lots of money for local charities. This can be anything from magicians and dancers through to jugglers, acoustic acts and rock bands.

Four separate audition dates have been held where acts had a video taken of their performance. The videos are then uploaded to YouTube so that supporters can vote for their favourite acts via text. The text votes help in the fundraising effort so the more votes we get through, the better. The eight acts with the most votes will go through to the final, along with four acts chosen by the panel of ten judges. The finals will take place on Sunday 22 March 2015 at The Garrick Theatre, Lichfield.

This year LGT and Perfect Weddings Abroad along with Barclays Bank are raising money for Mia Parnell. Mia is six years old and terminally ill. It is not known how long she has left, so Mia's family have set up 'It's Magic' to raise money for helping give Mia the best time she can possibly have. One of her wishes is to go on holiday to Lanzarote where she has great memories from when she was younger.

With the help of Helen Doyle, Managing Director at Perfect Weddings Abroad and on the LGT committee, Mia's wish has been granted with PWA providing her dream holiday to Lanzarote. PWA have set up a wishlist for Mia of which text votes will go into and members of the public can also donate.

Mia and her mum were live on Rachel Whites show on 106.8 TCR FM on 19 February 2015. Find out more at http://www.tcrfm.co.uk/

What you need to know about getting Married Abroad

Last year, around 1.5m people travelled overseas for a wedding (either getting married, or watching)

With so many things to think about, Perfect Weddings Abroad is here to guide you every step of the way.

At PWA, Our UK-based Weddings Abroad Specialists will book the wedding arrangements and the travel arrangements for the Bride and Groom. They will then assist any wedding guests in booking their travel arrangements too. Once your wedding is confirmed we will put you in contact with your In-Resort Wedding Coordinator to book your wedding reception, pre-book any wedding extras and finalise your arrangements before your arrival.

Travel Insurance

This is very important and should be taken out at the time of booking. You should also take out adequate wedding insurance too.

Legal Documents

The required documents vary between countries and these will be explained to you at the time of booking. Sometimes we need to send paperwork to resort in advance of your arrival, in other locations you must take this with you; it really does depend on your chosen location. The absolute minimum requirements of documents that you will need are:
  • Your passports (10 year and valid for at least 6 months after your return to the UK)
  • Your birth certificates (Full length birth certificates, showing both your parents full names are always required).
  • If you have previously been married you will also need to provide legal evidence of your single status, such as a decree absolute (sometimes you are required to provide your previous marriage certificate too).
  • If applicable, adoption and/or deed poll certificates
Weather

Most people say the weather’s a big reason for marrying abroad; a guaranteed sunny day. So make sure you you're not booking in the rainy season!

Exchange Rate

Your money could go a lot further depending on the exchange rate. The strong pound v euro means a European wedding is cheaper than it was at the turn of the year.

In the lead up to your Wedding Day:
  • Choose wedding attire
  • Create a wedding gift list
  • Finalise any outstanding payments
  • Pre-book any resort excusions
  • Pre-book airport car parking
  • Submit Advanced Passenger Information (API)
  • Collate all final documentation and tickets

Chinese Lanterns - Wedding Delight or Disaster?

Weddings take place every day of the week all over the world. One of the most fashionable tokens of wedding celebrations is now releasing Chinese Lanterns high in to the sky.

When it comes to a wedding abroad more and more couples are asking about releasing Chinese Lanterns on their wedding day. Some destinations permit the use of Chinese Lanterns, whilst others forbid them and cite the possibility of causing forest fires or interfering with low-flying aircraft.

Couples who marry in Cyprus often ask whether they can have Chinese Lanterns at their wedding reception. The answer as to whether these are permitted or not varies hotel by hotel, there doesn't seem to be a consensus across the island. In other popular wedding locations such as Antalya in Turkey the Chinese Lantern release forms part of many a couples wedding package choice.

The debate about Chinese Lanterns has been reignited (sorry!)... by the fire that has wreaked havoc with central Birmingham, UK over the last 24 hours. BBC states 5 problems caused by Chinese Lanterns whilst the fire continues to smoulder. Whilst the Daily Mail reports that the fire was believed to have been started by a stray Chinese Lantern and describes it as being "on the edge of Armageddon". Who makes these? What is the quality? How safe are they? and if they are safe... how do we actually know...?! When it comes to a wedding abroad and you're visiting a country that is in the height of summer with dry, parched land, what could it take to set the world alight? (ooops, couldn't resist that one!)...

Central Birmingham, UK fire reportedly started by stray Chinese Lantern

When it comes to your wedding abroad do you plan to have Chinese Lanterns released in to the sky... or could it spell potential disaster?

2013 Weddings Abroad Hot Spots

Check out our cool round up of weddings abroad hotspots for summer 2013 and beyond. The destinations featured are the most popular requested wedding locations worldwide on the Perfect Weddings Abroad website.

The most popular wedding location by far was Cyprus (the fact that this image is shaped like the island of Cyprus is purely a coincidence!!), with beachside venues in the Nissi Beach and Paphos areas fairing best. Also popular wedding locations that have been requested for summer 2013 weddings are Mauritius and Mexico for couples planning a wedding further afield.

The most up and coming wedding location requested by couples enquiring on the PerfectWeddingsAbroad.co.uk website is Malta. The wonderful island in the Mediterranean has really started to become more fashionable for weddings and is sure to be a hit for summer 2014 weddings abroad.

For more information regarding wedding locations around the world, check out the Perfect Weddings Abroad website, or you can even join the Weddings Abroad Facebook Page and get involved.
