PWA Blog a Light Hearted Look at the World of Perfect Weddings Abroad

Well for a number of years now we have had our Perfect Weddings Abroad Blog, this fine blog that you see right before you in fact!

To date we have used our blog to keep you up to date on our latest company news and information relevant to your big day.

After reviewing the content on our Blog we have decided to enhance this by adding in something new, something fun, something innovative, something we think that you will enjoy... "A Light Hearted Look at the World of Perfect Weddings Abroad"... now we don't mean we're going to go around our offices with camcorders and laugh at one another. In fact we're going to go one step further and venture outside the world of PWA!

Starting from this week we're launching our "Light Hearted Look" series of articles... this will be a round up of all of the interesting, and quite bizarre stories related to getting married abroad that we receive. We'll twist them up and have a bit of fun with them and send them back out to you to enjoy.

So if you read one of our articles with the phrase "Light Hearted Look" in the opening line or paragraph, then please remember not to take the article TOO seriously, just sit back, relax and enjoy reading... and of course feel free to comment on our blog posts too. We love to hear from you!

Until next time... :)

New Aphrodite Hills Resort Dine Around Concept

One of our favourite 5* wedding locations in Cyprus, the InterContinental Aphrodite Hills has launched a new Dine Around Concept for those guests choosing to stay at the property on a half board basis. Aphrodite Hills is one of Perfect Weddings Abroad's most popular wedding venues on the Paphos-side of the island. Most wedding couples will choose to stay at the InterContinental Aphrodite Hills Hotel with close family and friends, and then have other guests in the on-resort villas and apartments, with other members of the wedding party staying in nearby Paphos, around a 20 minute drive from the resort.

One of the most recent additions to the portfolio at Aphrodite Hills is the introduction of the Resort Dine Around concept. The ‘Resort Dine Around’ concept provides half board guests with the choice of 2 or 3 restaurants to choose from to take their regular half board meal. In addition, and in order to enhance the guests half board experience even further you may also choose to dine at any of the other restaurants available throughout the whole resort, where you will be able to apply a half board allowance towards the cost of your meal. An excellent way to enhance your wedding stay at the InterContinental Aphrodite Hills Resort, Cyprus.

The Resort Dine Around concept is launched from the 1st January 2012 and will apply to all wedding parties staying at the InterContinental Aphrodite Hills Hotel from the 1st January onwards, irrespective of whether you've already booked with us, or are in the process of booking.

Iceland Volcanic Ash Update

As you will probably be aware we have once again been blessed with volcanic ash drifting in to UK airspace from a volcano located in Iceland. At this time a number of flights in Scotland and the far north of England have been affected. The situation is changing on an hourly basis, and we are continuing to monitor the situation.

We are aware that this is an important time for yourselves, when going overseas to get married and will be hoping to get away to your overseas wedding without a hitch, or at least with little disruption. We want this to happen where possible too!

Just over 12 months ago we experienced the Volcanic Ash the first time around, and following on from our experiences then, and also what we did as a company we would like to offer some guidance, guidelines and reassurance...

WHAT WE WILL DO DURING THE VOLCANIC ASH SITUATION

  • Give regular updates via our Facebook Page regarding the ever-changing situation

  • Extend our office opening hours, where possible to help those imminently due to travel and those currently in-resort

  • Offer you the option of calling our 24 hour Emergency Telephone Line

  • Aim to amend passengers’ flights, where possible and practical, to limit disruption

  • Be as flexible as possible with regards to moving wedding arrangements, dates, times etc. should this be required – without charging any amendment fees

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP THINGS RUN AS SMOOTHLY AS POSSIBLE

  • Please keep an eye on updates on our Facebook Page: www.Facebook.com/PerfectWeddingsAbroad

  • Only call us to ask about arrangements if you are due to travel in the next 48 hours – if you are flying longer than 48 hours in advance there is very little information that we can help you with

  • Be patient and be prepared to be flexible, this may mean departing or returning in to an alternative airport or spending longer than usual in the airport

  • Use our 24 Hour Emergency Contact Telephone Number – printed on the bottom of your Final Wedding Voucher

  • Take a credit card or additional cash, should an emergency occur and you need to spend longer than you planned in-resort

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING WEDDINGS

If you have booked your wedding and holiday with us, it is much easier for us to help you. Likewise if you have booked your wedding reception with us. In this case we are able to better coordinate your arrangements and make changes at short notice should we need to. If you have made arrangements with venues or suppliers yourself we will be unable to assist with changes to any arrangements that you have made.

We of course hope that all flights go as planned, disruption is kept to a minimum and that all weddings go ahead on time as originally scheduled. However if your flights are affected by the volcanic ash...

Where possible, whilst keeping within the constraints of the legal documentation process and residency period in the country you are visiting, we’ll do our utmost to rearrange your wedding time or date to ensure that your wedding still goes ahead during the duration of your holiday stay.

This of course requires changes at short-notice, flexibility and excellent relations with our suppliers to help all of this come together. So for situations when this is required we appreciate your understanding and patience while we make changes to arrangements. This will always of course be done in cooperation with yourselves.

Finally, please keep smiling and cross your fingers!

All the Best

Hot spots to watch: Arikok National Park, which takes up almost 20 per cent of the island’s land mass and reopened after an extensive three-year infrastructure upgrade, and the surreal ‘wish-stone garden’: you can have as many wishes as rocks you can pile on each other but if the tower falls down, your dreams disappear with it! Landscape: Aruba’s eclectic geography is rarely found in the Caribbean: white sandy beaches line its idyllic south coast, rugged cliffs and black pebbles mark its tempestuous north and its striking red, arid interior boasts rock formations and cacti. Activities: Sea-trekking (a way of walking on the sea-bed without getting your hair wet), wreckdiving, off-road jeep safaris, horse riding and a special moonlight walk through Arikok National Park. Marriage Requirements: British couples must hold a legal ceremony at the Civil Town House. The couple may then hold another ceremony at the beach, on a boat or other venue. Residency Requirement: None. Documents Required: Marriage certificate for religious ceremony. Proof of divorce if relevant. Authorisation of eligibility to marry required from a notary or government official. N.B. All documents must be in Dutch, English or Spanish. Fees: To be advised locally. Witnesses: Two required. Witnesses can be provided locally at $50 each by a wedding planner. TOP TIPS Go for a picture-perfect beachfront wedding: The natural backdrop with Aruba’s breathtaking sunset is ideal for capturing everlasting memories. (Don’t) take the weather with you: The Caribbean may be affected from hurricanes from time to time but it is summer every day in Aruba. The island is outside the hurricane belt, enjoying year-round sunshine, a gentle breeze and glorious average temperatures of 28° C. Make sure you’re the one: Unlike other popular destinations, most resorts and hotels in Aruba will only hold one ceremony per day so your wedding will have a more intimate feel. The gift is right: Aruba is the first Caribbean nation to offer an online bridal registry. Couples can register for the most romantic activities, from sunset sailing, dinner cruises and underwater sightseeing to horseback riding, spa treatments and special accommodation add-on packages.
